Synthesis and Physical Properties of Iridium-Based Sulfide Ca1−xIr4S6(S2) [x = 0.23–0.33]

We present the synthesis and characterization of iridium-based sulfide Ca1−xIr4S6(S2). Quality phase analysis were conducted by means energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDXS) powder diffraction (XRD) techniques. Structure reveals a monoclinic symmetry with space group C 1 2/m (No. 12), lattice constants = 15.030 (3) Å, b 3.5747 (5) Å c 10.4572 (18) Å. Both EDXS suggest an off-stoichiometry calcium, leading to empirical composition Ca1−xIr4.0S6(S2) [x 0.23–0.33]. Transport measurements show metallic behavior compound in whole range measured temperatures. Magnetic down 1.8 K no long order, Curie–Weiss yields θCW −31.4 K, suggesting that undergoes magnetic state short correlations. supplement our study calculations band structure framework density functional theory.
